[Illinois] Event Ideas/Win a Set of Fikse Custom Wheels! {Merged}

I got it. What you need is a Blues Brothers style Rhythm & Blues Review. And I've got one.
TheKalamazooAvenueBand.com is your Blues Brothers band connection in SW MI, NW IN and the surrounding Calumet City countryside. Check the website. This is my baby, just like my '90 C4 convertible with the ROKSTAR license plate. I would love to do a show for my Vette loving brethren, so let me know when & where. Yes, we have a Bluesmobile, and can bring it to the event.
If I violated free plug rules on the CorvetteForum site, I apologize. Don't ban me, just let me know. And sign me up to win those wheels!

Well, this is about the nearest region to me so hopefully this post is still applicable.
In MN, we have an 'AutoMotorPlex'. It's a community of car enthusiasts that own 'garages' to house their hobby. I use the term garages lightly, because these are beautifully furnished works of art. Once a month, the owners are kind enough to open their garages and host a MASSIVE auto enthusiast meet for the morning. On average, 1,000 cars attend with many more spectators. Everything from exotic Italians to luxury Germans to classic and current American power - with literally everything in between.
Here's a few shots:
And an inside shot, yes this is a garage people:
Although a lot of Corvette owners do attend already, I think it'd be great to make a weekend out of one - head there on Saturday morning for the meet, then hit the open road to Duluth for a track day on Sunday at Brainerd International.

How about a trip to the NAIAS (Detroit Auto Show) for the first public showing of the 2014 C7? The NCM's January 13 preview event cost $1200.00 and sold out 150 tickets in 10 minutes. The crowd isn't too bad on weekdays like January 21,22,23,24, or 25.
(in 1993 I ordered a special-offset set of Fikse's for my 93 vert. Quality was excellent, they still look great on a NSCC member's 89 vert)

Cars and Coffee is GREAT, but how about dinner runs? This way those who work weekends, or have busy schedules might be able to do a evening event. There are plenty of good eateries in the burbs and it's always a good chance to score points with the little lady.

Illinois Event or Great Lakes region
The drag strip around here has closed for the year. A trip along the Mississippi River would be sweet. Up for anything.

Drifting
Depending on when the time frame is for the event Street Machine Nationals is supposed to be coming back to Duquoin Il in June 2013. Maybe an autocross event there.

Charity Run
Know a charity run is already being done from Peoria to Memphis for St. Jude. Other ideas to assist with other charitable organizations would be beneficial and could include a sightseeing trip as well.
As with any Corvette event, there is always good people, good rides and good times!!!!!!

Great Lakes Event
I suggest partnering with a prominent Corvette dealer and or Corvette club to sponsor a one or two day event. The event might include a dinner for couples and others who want to discuss vettes and other common interests. Additional activities might include parking lot autocross, poker run, local scenic tour, car show and musical entertainment.

An orgnaized cruise in to Autobahn or Byron Dragstrip would be great with options to just park the cars for a huge show or run them on the track if people wanted. These events always seem to get good attendance and its a great way to meet new people.

They did a great car show of street rods and classics this last summer, expecting about 200 cars and had over 1000 show up,great location, not far from most. Also not to far from Elkart Lake for a swing off event,or as suggested a Saturday show and a Sunday day at the track/Union Grove, only about a half hour away.....

1. Fall colors run to the Starved Rock State Park area with lunch
2. Road rally. Tried this once already, (Chicago area) only 3 people signed up.
3. Road tour to Volo auto museum (Chicago area)
4. Tour around Lake Michigan. This would be 2 nights in hotel, 3 days of driving about 1,000 miles.

I'm sure that if we got a good group down there that we could get creative and arrange a whole afternoon of karting for a good size group! I've got several friends who have run in some series down there. It's a ton of fun. Just won a 3 hour enduro in their rental karts with two of my friends... We could do an all corvette forum enduro...
