Attempted Carjack just outside of Midway airport
Hi Guys,
I've got quite a story to tell. Friday night I was meeting my family at a hotel just outside of Midway Airport in Chicago. I parked the car in the corner of an hhgregg parking lot and waited for them to arrive. As soon as I turned the car off a man approached my passengers side door and instructed me to give him a ride. When I said no he told me,"either you give me a ride or I'm taking the car." He then proceeded to open the passenger's door and climb into the car. At this point I got out of the car and took the keys with me. An altercation ensued and the man continued to threaten me. I couldn't tell if he had a weapon or not so I kept my distance. I armed the car alarm and moved around to the front of the vehicle. The hhgregg was closed so there was noone there to help me. The man tried to break into the driver's side door this time and when he did he set off the car alarm. As he was doing this I was able to dial 911 and get an operator on the line. When the alarm went off the man freaked out and started chasing me. I ran to the hotel my parents were staying at about 200 yards away and fortunately they were there checking in. The man stayed outside the hotel and we dialed 911 again. After an hour the police never showed up and the man took off. Thankfully no one got hurt and my car wasn't stolen. PLEASE ALWAYS KEEP YOUR CAR IN WELL LIT PUBLIC PLACES AT NIGHT!!!

Sorry to hear this, glad you are OK!
You should have just pulled your sidearm, oh, right, we can't...

Had you told the 911 operator the assailant was holding a “Get out of NATO” sign the Authorities would have been there in 60 seconds…

Lots of people are now asking if why such a Police presence can be mounted for the NATO protestors why not in Englewood?

Especially Cook County (which ironically is the one County keeping it from having happened so far, Carry Conceal I'm referring to).
Can't rely on 911 so certainly needed .357 in the instance of the OP.
Really glad to hear ou were not injured or worst!
First arrested for a chicken chit allegation of drag racing a tow truck in your vette now almost getting car jacked and assaulted in your daily driver (been a tuff few months for you bro, I feel your pain).

Hmm, maybe you could!
ILLINOIS: Legal with restrictions. The use of Pepper Spray is legal for carrying by a person 18 years of age or older. Special ordinance in the City of Chicago (a) No person shall use any device to discharge a noxious gas or liquid in an enclosed room in any Class C-1 or Class C-2 Assembly Unit, as defined in Chapter 13-56 of this Code, or in an enclosed room in any restaurant, bar or tavern that is a Class F Assembly Unit as defined in that chapter, if more than 20 persons are present in that room, unless the person is a peace officer, as defined in Section 8-20-30* of this Code, engaged in law enforcement activity. As used in this section, “noxious gas or liquid” means mace, pepper spray or any other substance that is intended or designed to cause irritation to the eyes, nose or mouth, or to cause nausea.
OR, roll this up tightly and strike him with it!

IIRC, that would also be illegal, here.
