I don't know on vettes, but I had my truck done there. The owner did it and it is a phenomenal job. Super fast and zero blemishes. One of the best tint jobs I've ever gotten.

Yep. Car turned out awesome and Rick (the owner) did mine as well. I would definitely recommend them!

I'm just going to apply some Sherwin-Williams flat black interior house paint to all of my windows with a roller.

I just looked at my C5 windows, and there is no lettering that specifies the % light transparency for the factory glass. On my other GM cars (Cadillac SRX and Saturn Vue) both of these cars say right on the glass "70% transparency". So, assuming that the C5 is the same, that would mean that the darkest rated tint one could apply and comply with the law would be a 50% tint film all the way around, because 50% of 70%-factory = 35% final transparency all the way around, which is the darkest allowed.
If you were to put 35% rated FILM over a 70% factory window, as jor8888 mentions, the measured transparency would show up as about 25% on a Scumburg police officers measurement doo-hickey, and then you get a ticket because you made the incorrect assumption that the factory glass was "clear" and 100% transparent.
Comments? Who knows the answer for sure?!?

I decided it's not worth the trouble. Plus, no matter what you do, you get that white bubble crap around the bottom of the rear window, which look like open ***. It's also more money flushed down the toilet that you don't get back when you sell the car. F-IT.

I just purchased a tint meter on ebay for $79 brand new. I'll test my cars and then resell on ebay for $50. I found this good information on the meter manufacturers website. It pretty much confirms the above discussion:
So, basically if you want to be in compliance with the new state law, don't put anything darker than 50% film all the way around. Being that the cops around here are in love with pulling over Corvettes, I want to make sure I'm in compliance.
I will post the measured values for clear stock C5 glass once I get the meter in a couple days.
Windows do not have a 100 percent light transmission. A clear pane of glass has a physical standard of 92 percent light transmission. Automotive glass has safety glazing installed to protect the occupants. The glazing material may bring this light transmittance value down to a minimum of 70 percent light transmission, as permitted by federal regulatory agencies. Now if you add a window film that has a 50 percent light transmission over a window having a 70 percent light transmission it brings the “Net” light transmission down to 35 percent light transmission (.70 x .50 = .35).
I will post the measured values for clear stock C5 glass once I get the meter in a couple days.
