Let us know when you will be in the Chicago area and hopefully you can meet up with our group at a cruise night or something. Are you planning on renting a Corvette while you are here?

Here's some of our events that we have planned for the season: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/grea...ent-ideas.html

Definitely check out the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY
September should be good weather!
Corvette central is a great place to go also . They did a tour for a bunch of us a few years ago. If you do get to Michigan let us know and we will make sure the WMC gives you a big welcome

Hallo Jochen,

That's exactly what I was going to say.

I hope you get a chance to visit a drag strip while you are here.
We have open drag racing every Tuesday night at O'Reiley Raceway Park, just west of Indianapolis. (That is where all of the big events take place... US Nationals, Super Chevy Show, Good Guys. Pinks All Out was there last year, too)

Welcome to America.

Excellent. Remind us again in July or August (we're going to forget - it's all the beer we drink) and we'll get a Chicago Crew lunch going.

If you are a C4 ZR1 guy you must visit Mark Haibeck's shop while in town. A short run from Ohare airport.

You will love your visit here. Chicago is a great place to start. It is my hometown. I am now in Michigan just outside of Detroit. If you make it this way I would be glad to show you around. We could possible go to the GM Performance Build Center where that build the engine for the Z06 & ZR1. I would also see if we could visit Pratt Miller racing. You could stop here on your way back to Chicago. I am five hours north of Cincinnati and it take me less than five hours to Chicago Ohare airport. If I can be of any help with your plans please let me know.

Keep west Michigan in mind and Corvette Central.
Once you have a plan in place let me know and the WMC will give you a big welcome Maybe we can arrange another tour of Corvette Central if that interests you

How many people are you coming with? This is just a suggestion for a trip to hit all the spots you want to see. Starting in Chicago you are about two hours to Sawyer Michigan and Corvette Central. The WMC group are one of the most friendly Corvette people around so stop and say hello. I am about three hours east of Corvette Central. I am in Warren Michigan near the GM Tech Center. From my house to Pro team in Napoleon Ohio is about two hour drive. From Pro Team to Cincinnati is another three hours. From Cincinnati to Bowling Green is under 4 hours. Nashville is just south of Bowling Green and is less than an hour away. Be sure to see the ******* Hotel there. Nashville to Memphis is under 4 hours. Your longest drive will be from Memphis to Indy and that will take around 8 hours. It is under 3 hours from Indy to Effingham. It is about 3.5 hours from Effingham to Chicago.

Timing? I think Corvette Central is open Monday-Friday. You would need to be in Detroit area by Friday Sept. 3 to go to the Performance Build Center. I believe Pro Team is still open on Saturdays. It is best to hit the Museum Monday- Thursday so you can also do a plant tour. Yes, you will probably miss the weekend gathering but there is more time for the museum and plant tour. After Bowling Green the only other date that I can think of that would be important is FUNFEST in Effingham. It is September 17-19 this year. Then be back in Chicago by September 20 for the trip home. You actually have a lot of time it just depends on what you want to do. You even have enogh time to leave Cincinnati head to the Smokie Mountains, drive down the Tail of the Dragon and slide over on the Cherohola Skyway on your way to Bowling Green.

If you need a place to stay here in Warren, Michigan we have a guest room. I am sure you will here from other Corvette people with suggestions and get togethers. When my wife Verna & I go on our road trips we meet Corvette people all over the country. There will probably also be some local cruise nights and show you will be able to be in. Have fun planning your trip. let me know if i can be of any help.

Jochen -

We look forward to your visit. Please call a few days ahead so that we can be prepared to show you around. We are 1.5 hours east of Chicago (1 hour if you're driving a Vette ), exit 12 off of Interstate 94 (main highway that runs from Chicago to Detroit).

Your Friends at Corvette Central

If and when you get to Indianapolis, you need to make sure you do a tour of the Indianapolis 500 Motor Speedway. Also if you plan on doing Corvette Funfest, you may want to make sure you book a room now. Most people carry there rooms over year to year.
