For those of you jarheads in the Chicagoland area, the Glenview Marines, a collection of marines who served at Glenview NAS at some time, have set up a goal of collecting 1 million dollars for the Injured Marine Semper Fi fund. This is a great charity that attempts to support the injured marines AND THEIR FAMILIES during the marine's recovery period. They have one of the lowest admin ratios of the many charities about, returning something like 97% of the money collected to Marines and their families.

I would encourage any local Marines to go to the fund's website and see what they are about, and then hopefully contribute whatever you can to this most worthy cause. We are doing it in the name of the Glenview Marines so that the money will stay in the area for marines who are from around here, but you can simply donate. Not much better that we old jarheads that came back more or less "unperforated" can do than support the youngsters that are doing such a bang-up job carrying on the Marine tradition.

And any who work for or have contacts with companies that would like to support this activity, please let me know so I can try to get such donations to the fund. We have had the good luck to have as a start Granger Co donate $100,000, so we have a cushion to build on. But there's much more that we can do for these young men and women.

Funds are kind of low right now but I'll see what I can do to help you "Green Weenies". I spent a couple weeks at GNAS while in the NAV...

Is this the correct link? OOH RA!

That's the site. Down in the section on choosing an organization, there is listed Glenview Marines of Illinois.

I know funds are tight for everyone, and really appreciate anyone that can give anything. Thanks for your care and interest.
