Verna & I are finally staying home for a while. We were on an extended road trip after the National Caravan to NCM on Labor Day. Returned home after just over three weeks and 4770 miles. Then we went to Mexico for a week. We are looking forward to the Holidays. My family is coming in from Chicago to celebrate Christmas. We are also looking forward to the MCV get together January 2, 2010.

Besides work, I just got back from Washington DC for the weekend. Highlight of the trip was a tour of the Capitol Building. Got lucky, and there were tickets available to watch live, in person, the House debates on health care reform. Interesting process. Congressman Dingell had the gavel when we walked in. Impassioned debates on both sides of the House. Now it's on to the Senate for their vote.

On November 17th I'm celebrating my birthday and decorating my bike with blinking lights and tinsel. Then I'm headed down to Hines Drive at 5:00 pm to bike the entire length of the holiday lights display with a bike group called beat the train in detroit.com (yup, that is the name of the club! ) Anyone want to join me? Here's the linky for more info:
http://www.beatthetrainindetroit.com/happenings.asp

Sitting low for Thanksgiving (#1 son is STILL in Afghanistan-can't make it for any turkey at our house #2 son is taking a trip with his friends from college). So, it looks like the hubby and I are going to let someone else do the cooking (for once!) and we're eating out! Woo Hoo! I'm acutally looking forward to the break.

Christmas break we're headed to Cancun...all inclusive...the whole 9 yards. I've been on a perpetual diet so I don't look like a heffalump in my bathing suit. Dropped 10 lbs got 5 to go. I never realized how hard it is and how s-l-o-w-l-y it comes off when you LOVE food!

Hubby worked his behind off all summer to pay for this vacation, so we plan on taking a well deserved break from everything we've gone through this past year. We arrive back in Detroit the evening of January 2. Which means I can't make the MCV holiday event this year...

Compared to you guys... I've been up to nothing. Work is busy right now so they're giving us some overtime this month and maybe next. The wife had to fire one of her workers so she's working extra hours until they hire somebody else. That's about it. We have no trips planned though we just started talking about doing Vegas sometime in the late winter. We'll see.

On a side note, keep your eyes out for the next issue of Corvette Enthusiast. Someone you all know just might be in it.

WOW you must really be a glutton for punishment to sit through that, well at least you have first hand knowledge of how all of us are getting screwed over.

When it rains, are you still planning on riding underwater? You might want to get a wetsuit.

Tell your son thank you for his service! I as well as many others appreciate his sacrifice

I have been busy working and trying to stay one step ahead of the man. So far its working.

Hmm.

Did you check out Adams Morgan while you were in DC, Suzanne? Thats where I'll be headed for Thanksgiving. Its the only part of DC that I can really tolerate, though I did brave Capitol Hill 3x a year for a fab hairdresser.

School is going well. I'll be finished with my calc sequence this year. Kind of weird to think I was in art school this time last year. I'm taking Anatomy & Physiology as an elective this semester. By chance, I'm at a lab table with a guy who drives a white Z06. Trying to get him to come out and join the group, as we need more token white friends

My Grandfather died two weeks ago from pancreatic cancer. I couldn't make it to the funeral (England) My mum has been over there since September. The Vette has to go to DC for state inspections at Christmas, so I'll be driving it to DC and then leaving for London to spend Christmas with my Mum and Grandma. Lots of travel time >.< I'm scheduled to be back in DC for New Years Eve, and Greg is thinking of meeting me in DC…maybe getting there a few days before me to sightsee and eat lots o' pizza with my dad.

The last few weekends have been nice temps, so Greg and I have been on Woodward with my ricer buddies. Its nice to not be hassled by the cops and booted out of the 'Caribou' lot. Maybe if there's another semi- nice weekend, we could all meet at Duggans.

How about you, Cindy?

Other than working a lot (thankfully got through that unemployment issue with no hiccups), I'm planning to actually take some classes again starting in January. Also looking forward to another vacation in Mexico in February, I can't wait to get away from the cold weather for a week. The vette needs some work this winter, I just fixed a leak in the transmission, need to pull and clean the radiator, and then there are thoughts of headers just not sure I want to tackle those or not.

Watching our first grandchild grow. Her 1st birthday is coming up next month.

After two years of searching Debbie and I bought our future retirement house up in the Traverse City area. Rural, quite, trees, dark skies. We got the keys this past weekend and spent our first night there. The extent of the furniture? a blow up matress and a forty year old card table and chair set! You want storage though? A 40'X56' pole barn.

Planning to do a driving trip we've always wanted to do next spring Gettysburg, PA then Washington DC. We like to mix in American history trips with the more sun-centered trips sometimes.
