Son is missing in Chicago
I just found out this morning that some bad times have gone his way, and he is out on the streets, so I'm going up tomorrow in a desparate attempt to find him
Suggestions ?
He has a Verizon phone, still active, but when I call, it goes straight to voice mail
I'm in MI and Chicago PD will not let me fill out a Missing Person report over the phone from MI
Wired him some money today, but I can tell he hasn't picked it up yet
as you can imagine, I'm not thinking straight right now
this is no joke

Can you track him through the phone? I know we can track phones through AT&T. Hope everything turns out ok and if any of us can help give a shout. I know several of the Chicago guys including myself know some CPD officers. What area are we talking?

he lived on North Paulina Street in Chicago
I have called his number, but it immediately went to voice mail
I called Verizon but they wouldn't give me any info
but I went on line, put in his phone number to get account info, and found it was past due, so I paid it off for him ... they said he account would be back in good standing within the hour
Tried calling him since then, but still goes to VM
the problem could be ... if he thinks his phone has been cut off, he could have let the battery go down (or maybe he's not around a place to recharge it) .. so its possible that now he has a working phone, but he just doesnt know it .....
thanks

Maybe post a pic with a brief description of him, you never know, someone may recognize him. I would offer to wire him money when you are in Chicago and meet him at the Wire office. Did you try texting him?

I have family with a bar @ Roscoe and Damen, and a lot of contacts in the Roscoe Village area. Paulina is just east of Damen. Can you give some more info? College student? Where he last worked, etc? PM me if you don't want this info out there just yet.

thanks again
He was going to Columbia (downtown) and was working for ExpressMen clothing store in a Mall part time .... he had a lead on a better paying job as a legal clerk, quit this job, then found out he wasn't getting the clerk job, and couldn't get his old job back. Missed getting his college loan paperwork in, so he was not going to school this semester ... girlfriend broke up with him, and he was sharing a place with other students, but since he couldn't pay anymore, they told him to hit the road ...
Sounds like a bad Country song, but there's no truck or dog involved ...
not much to go on, I know

Unfortunately, there probably isn't going to be much the Chicago PD can do because your son is of age. I strongly suggest filing a missing person report and see if they'll enter him in the computer as missing under suspicious circumstances . . . if they'll do that. If they tell you that he can't be entered into the computer, insist on it. Don't be afraid to ask to speak to a supervisor if you're not getting anywhere. A report might also help in getting his cell phone records. If he's in the computer and someone checks him out it'll show him as missing. At the very least they can tell him to contact you.
Have you tried to contact his former girlfriend, friends or anyone he worked with? Maybe they've seen him or heard from him. Does he have any friends in Michigan that he might have contacted?
I'm not too familiar with the city, but are there any shelters in the area? You might also want to bring a bunch of copies of a recent picture of him as well. Good luck and keep us posted.

thanks again for some suggestions
We have contacted the friends I know of, and asked them to spread the word
I'm really tired this morning, so I may not have this exactly right, but my ex wife called and registered him with what I think she said was "311", from what I understand, if someone walks off the street into a shelter, that person has to register .... if you have someone in this 311 list and they register, the shelter will call and tell us where he is ..
I'll keep you posted
