Starved Rock Colors Tour 10/18
Maybe some would like to join us for a "spirited" little romp to Starved Rock with a couple detours. Leaving the Myers parking lot in St. Charles at Rt. 38 and Randall Road at 10 am sharp on the 18th.
This is the tour: St. Charles > Morris via Rt. 47 > R-Place Truck Stop > Aux Sable via Cemetary Road > Morris > Mathieson State Park via DuPont Road, we'll get out and walk around a little > Drive through Starved Rock > Lunch at Boondocks in Seneca > Old Stage Road to Morris > on your own for the trip home.

Is this similar to the stage coach trail cruise, that happened about 3 weeks ago?
If I can get my new shocks in by then I should be game for a last hoorah before winter.
What do you mean by "spirited" should I borrow a radar detector? are the roads out there bumpy or smooth, how are the local cops i.e. are there lots of speed traps

Wouldn't hurt to have a radar detector, but it won't be a guarantee of no tickets. Cops are getting pretty smart on when, where, and how to use their radar to be most effective. Proved that over the summer during the Black Hills Classic. Slolane got ticketed even with his radar detector, and it pissed off the cop that he had one. Happened to Just J a couple years ago on the way to cruise in as well. I guess that's why I haven't bought one yet, I'm not convinced they will work 100% of the time. If the corn is down it's a little easier to have a spirited drive in certain areas, but with the corn still standing it could be dangerous due to intersections and more places for radar traps. I don't think you will be dissapointed with the drive, and certainly not the scenery.

Is this with the Chicago Corvette Club? I was going to plan a fall tour but had to spend some time in OK,OK . With my mother who has stage 4 cancer to get her moved and set up in a retirement home.
I will bring this up at the Northern Rays meeting this Tuesday I would like to attend sounds like a great time

What time do you guys think you'll be going thru Morris? I can meet up with you somewhere in or close to Morris.
Thanks, Jim

No, Cemetary Road is on the north side of the river and east of RT 47, running between Channahon and Morris.

Jim, we added another quick stop at R-Place truck stop which is just North of I-80 on Rt. 47. We should be there at 10:45. That might be your best bet to join up. Cemetary road is not DuPont road, but runs east from Morris toward Channahon.

Not unlike the trail cruise, but I'm confident we will see much more color in the trees then 3 weeks ago. The 18th should be the peak for colors. The roads are actually quite good, many with paving less then 2 years old. There are a couple of bumpy spots though, but no big deal.
