On Saturday, March 21, at Autobahn Country Club, Joliet IL, North Suburban Sports Car Club will hold its 49th Annual FREE Indoor Racing School. It is designed to show prospective racers what is involved in getting on a road racing course, either as a racer or as a race staff worker. There is no cost or obligation involved. Our hope is that attendees will find amateur road racing/sports car racing interesting enough to join our club and come out to race and/or work with us.
The program discusses current era and vintage/historic wheel-to-wheel racing, solo timed-run events also known as High Speed Autocross and the on-track driver schools presented by the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs. Professional grade presentations from 9AM to 3PM will be followed by guided track touring on one of the two road courses available at Autobahn – weather permitting.
If you know anyone planning to start racing this season, please let them know about this. This is an RSVP event, as we need to know how many students to prepare for. Please use this registration form to let us know you're coming and how many will be with you. Contact Lynn Serra if you have any questions or need any additional information.
A buffet luncheon will be available at a nominal charge, however you must register in advance.
I went last year and again this year. Great info for people just getting started on the track, plus weather permiting there is a touring session on the track. See ya's there.
You drive your car. It's low speed, maybe 60-70 mph in the straights if you space yourself right, but going slow you can learn the line and the turn's apex. So when do an actual track day event there, you will be familar with the track. Its a good teaser for the begining of the season.
You must look for track events that are posted. This is one I would like to go to but I can't commit until closer to the event. http://www.nwshelbyclub.com/?page_id=37&event_number=27
Maybe one day I'll be a autobahn member.
