Storm Damage; whatcha got ?
in the Dayton Ohio area there was very little rain that fell within the past few days... maybe 1/2" total; but the wind that ripped thorough our area Sunday caused MAJOR problems. Trees downed everywhere.
We've been without power at home since 3pm Sunday. And no power at work... 'cept we're partially running on a generator there. We're being told it will take days to restore electrical service.
Since we are on a well at home, that means no running water, and no working toilets

Here in central Illinois the wind wasn't so bad, but we got plenty of rain added to an already wet summer. 6"-8.5" depending on the area. My rain gage tops out at 6" and it was overflowing. All of that in about 4.5 hours time.

Similar story to what was going on in Central IL here in St. Louis. Rain gauge overflowed as well. On the way to the Rams game Sunday ( I accept any condolences) I ran into an intersection under water. Never seen this at this intersection before. And only reason I even went that way was because they closed my entrance to I-44 because of the River (Meramec). Kind of strange. It went down quick. Just like the Rams. On the way home the exit from I-44 was open.
Other than that lots of branches down. Can see traces of where creeks over flowed their banks and ran across the road but other than being extra wet, most things seem sot be back to normal. I do not know of any areas without power.

they just declared our county a "disaster area"... 24 hours after the fact.
Actually; it's nothing but an attempt at gaining funds from outside our area

Up around Springfield (Oh) appears to be like many other places. Lots of trees/limbs down. Many without power. I feel fortunate, we didn't/haven't lost power so life isn't so bad. However I've got alot of tree cleanup in my own yard. Thankfully no structural damage to the house or garage.

We lost some shingles, power was out from 1:00 PM Sunday until 10:30 this morning. Lots of trees down in NKY. The first hurricane I've ever gone through

Des plaines IL 10 minutes from o-hare airport 10" of rain. A real mess, very fortunate to only get some water in storage area of basement.Others not so lucky, roads closed everywhere. Didn't touch the vette in the garage. Would have to get deep for that, seeing i have it on home made ramps.

no damage here, however we did record 75 mph winds at the Columbus airport over a several hour period. Got called into work at PD with all the trees and power lines down. Couldn't believe the number of people who would just fly through intersections where the traffic lights were out. Some people have little or no brains!!!!!

Estimates are up to a week out to restore power to some areas.
Our lights flickered some but never went out. Went to the son's house tonight and brought all their frozen food back here. They're telling them maybe power by the 17th.
I lost a bunch of branches up to 1" in diameter. Lost one branch from a Honey Locust tree in the back yard that's about 8" in diameter. Luckily it was on the side away from the house. It broke about 15' up.
I cabled the main branches of a Maple tree in the front yard several years ago. It was kinda watching the cable slack and drop about 1 1/2" then pull tight again. Normally it's always under tension.
Other people around here lost siding, corrugated panels off decks and window shutters. Saw quite a few large trees down in other areas though.

Nothing like that here in NE Indiana. The heavy rain went to the NW of us and the real strong wind must have stayed to the SE of us, I guess we were lucky.

On the southside of Indy we got rain on and off all day and winds gusting 40 to 60 mpg. Some tree limbs down and some power outings reported but all in all we are in good shape here. No damage to my place but a few leaves in my Koi pond. Hope the rest of you are OK and get your power back on soon.

woke up this morning to a continued dark house. Now being told that it might be until Saturday....
dug out my old Coleman camp stove and was able to heat water last night and wash -up.
I am taking my homes emergency-lighting battery into work and charging it up (using their generator)... then taking it back home for night-time illumination. We can navigate the entire house with this lighting.
Interesting that this battery keeps the emergency lighting running for about 8 hours... was never expected to work this well.
I will complete the whole-house generator project I started (and then lazily stopped) a few years ago. I don't need to learn this lesson twice

We live about 40 minutes north of Columbus. We lost power about 6pm Sunday and still do not have it back. We lost a large tree in our backyard and a piece of siding on the front of the house. Fortunately, we live in town so we have water. Our whole town is without power and much of the neighboring towns are also without.

The wife went shopping in our new Honda Ridgeline and the passenger door got clobbered by a windblown shopping cart!!
To top it off we lost power on Sunday during the first drive of the Indy game and it didn't come back on until Monday. We lost a lot of groceries due to spoilage as a result.

Power is still out in parts of Whitehall. The only good thing is I'm making a ton of overtime at the police department. As soon as the power went out, the breaking and entering started. It's a shame you can't have anything without someone wanting to steal it.
