Default DTE Drivetrain At SEMA Selected For Snap-On Tools Car!

Now that SEMA is here, the time has come to let the cat out of the bag! We were under contract to keep this quiet until SEMA, so now that it's here, we can let the general public know what we've been up to.

A number of months ago, DTE was selected by Snap-On Tools to provide the HD driveline for a specialized theme car built for the tool manufacturing corperation that will be unvieled at this years SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV. The car was to be a completely hi-tech, ground-up build that took place in North Carolina in a semi-hidden shop that was off the beaten path of mainstream public knowledge and/or would-be, prying eyes. They wanted a high performance differential and strut from us that would be able to withstand a blown LS7 engine in this heavy of a car, so we stepped up to the challenge.

The car is a custom-built 1957 Chevrolet Nomad equipped with many trick features, including a supercharged LS7 and Corvette underpinnings leading all the way back to our ultra-heavy duty DTE Stage 5 C5 Corvette differential and DTE differential strut. This car is all Snap-On themed, which is similar to the Snap-On Chopper previously built by the Tuttles at Orange County Choppers last year.

We are very excited and proud to be working with Snap-On Tools with this project and this latest business venture extends DTE's HD driveline product presence further into other segments of application, than just racing and the Corvette.

The car's name is Glomad and once you see the unique individual who's heading up the build of this thing, you'll understand why. Here are some links to the website of the car, where you can watch all sorts of videos, see pictures, etc. of the build progress from the time it first started, to now when the car was shipped off to SEMA last week.
http://www.aintstreetlegal.com/

DTE products, appearances and honorable mentions can be seen in "Video Episodes" #65, #66, #72 and in "Lex Cam Videos" #25. Honorable mentions can be found in "Doc's Blog" under "It's action packed in the labratory".

The car will have further appearances on TV programs slated for next year and will appear in many tool/car shows as it travels all over the USA for the 2008 year! Thank you Snap-On Tools for the consideration and opportunity and it was a pleasure working with you!

Now you folks here can have a little insight on what's cooking for next year at DTE! We hope you guys enjoy the many videos as much as we enjoyed participating in this project.

Best Regards,

Awesome! They knew who to come to when it came to true performance and durability... DTE!

I'm sure everyone that sees the incredible set-up you provided for this car will want one for their Corvette. I know I do!

Way to go DTE

Thanks gents!

I wish I could be there at SEMA myself to see it in person, but duty calls here first I guess. I'll probably fly back down there to N.C. when they get it back after SEMA to finalize a couple of things.

I really want to drive that thing!!

Default Update~

Just got off the phone with the builder of the above 1957 Chevy Nomad (called Glomad) Snap-On Tool Car that was featured at SEMA this year. He said the show went very well and the car was big hit with the public.

It's coming back to N.C. in a couple of weeks for Doc to perform some finishing touches in the electrical dept. of the car, before it goes back to Snap On Tools for their annual Christmas Party. It then travels all-over the USA for other shows/appreances- including a number of cameo's in upcoming TV programs.

We'll soon be driving down to install one of our custom, one-off, polished, billet aluminum rear differential covers that will carry the Snap-On Tools/DTE Powertrain logos in unison with each other and I'll chime back in with a picture of that as soon as it comes back from anodizing.

We're honored and very pleased they chose DTE for their drivetrain needs of this high-powered car, as it was very exciting to work with such a huge, multi-million corporation as Snap-On Tools in this business venture! We look forward to strengthening our new relationships for the future with the premier tool manufacturer in the USA- Snap On Tools!

Best Regards,
Phil

Thanks Don!

As usual though, my hobbies have to take a back seat for other things in life first.... We just moved into our new home last Sunday and my wife is 8 weeks pregnant, so I guess I'll be a Dad soon.

Needless to say, I won't be buying any new 200+ HP motorcycle anytime soon! Heck, I can barely keep my current high-powered Vmax straight as it is! The '95 Vmax and the '07 Rincon will have to do for now, as I'm satisfied with that.

Phil,

Congratulations from me and Sandi on the great news! Please wish Jenny our best. Are you two hoping for a girl or a boy or does it matter?

P.S. Remember... No nitrous on the stroller, big wheel, etc.

What??? Awww, C'mon!!! My kid has *GOT* to look fast having a father in the high performance industry!!

Besides, big-wheels are too '70's (had 3 of them when I was a little chap) so I was thinking of a hot-rod stroller like this and when he/she grows up a little, a pedal car like this!

No junk Peg-Perego plastic here for us!!

Ohh, by the way... I can't wait to teach he/she how to drive go-karts so they can follow in their father foot-steps by kicking you and Don's azz's on the track! LOL!

Phil

Sounds like you have a lot of positive events going on right now. Congratations! Especially the pending new addition to the family. Enjoy every moment as the time goes by quickly.

We attended the SEMA show for the first time and saw that beautiful Nomad. It's awesome you were able to be a part of it.

I keep thinking I need to get my Vette back up to your shop for more horsepower but recently I've been distracted by another Vette acqusition: a 65 roadster.

Thanks Dan and the company has *really* grown over the years since our inception. We're ready to expand already, as 10,000 sq./ft. is getting cramped now!

Sounds like you too have a new "toy" to play with! Those 60's cars are the best looking of all the generations of Corvettes IMO. Plus, they usually represent a capital investment after purchase. Enjoy!

Best Regards,
Phil
