I got my first taste of cicada mayhem today
I played golf with my parents in Lake Geneva. They were swarming the Vette on the way up there and were so loud near the golf course and by my parent's house. At least I have something to blame my lousy game on.
I thought everyone was making this whole cicada thing up.

I took a ride on the Wideglide yesterday through the south burbs to Tinley. Going through the Glenwood, Homewood area the Cicada's were louder than the drag pipes on the Harley! I ususally cant hear much over the sound of the bike.

They were all over Rt 53/355 today on my way to work and back. They are so hard that instead of exploding when they hit the car, they just bounce off. I expected to see some fresh bug juice on the car when I got home, but found nothing. Those are some old, tough bugs.

I drove home from work with the top down today and was worried about one of those suckers landing inside the cockpit.

I agree about the Rt 53/I355 area around Lisle/Downers Grove. I hit a few on the ramp from I88 to NB 355. Got home and two big yellow splotches on the lower bumper and fog light. Like I needed an excuse to wash the car on a night like this! Not a single one up in the Arl. Hts. area. Fine by me.

About 100 have bounced of my vette and 70 Dodge Charger the last 48 hours! I live in a older part of Elmhurst and my area is simply infested and my German Shepard is well fed!

It is kind of neat to see the empty shells stuck on the trees (and anything else they've rested on) We'll have a few this summer, but the "swarm" only happens every 17 years. Something to look forward to in 2021 around here.

Park Ridge/Norridge they are swarming near the forest preserve on East River Rd and Cumberland..very LOUD had to crank the new system up to drown them out.

yea they are massed in pockets around here. Mostly forest preserves, but around the neighborhoods a block will be swarmed and move another block, there aren't any. My townhouse community is fairly new and have not had a single one yet. Driving through those forest preserves though is a site to see. Dead and dying cicadas all over the road.
