Default Thanks to Jim Bacus!! (AutoBahn)

I just wanted to say Thanks to Jim Bacus, for inviting me to Laps yesterday out at autobahn!

After 5 years of ownership I finally had the opportunity to take my car out on the track.. it was one of the best experiances I have had. Jim is a great instructor aswell. After a few sessions I finally built up some confidence although I still need more track time to learn...

Also was good to see a few of the forum members like Snidely, & Fred Maringer.. I will try to post some pics when I get them from Theresa's Camera, and maybe some video when I get a chance to watch it..

Hey Rick,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye yesterday. I left a bit early, and thought you were already gone. But Jim said you were there all day.

Glad to hear you had a good time, it gets addicting quick! Hopefully no damage to, or issues with, your car?

Hey Rick, glad you had a great time. I was on my way back from the Indy500 on Monday so I wasn't able to make it. I will be at the next one though!

Collin,
No problem, good seeing you! Yes it is very addicting! No damage to the car, I will have to check my brakes out and probably bleed them again. I did peg the trans temp a few times, and felt one harsh shift could be from the trans being hot... As the program or "tune" will alter line pressure based off trans temp to keep the trans from slipping.. so I may have to add another cooler (I already have a nice large one up front).. but everything worked well better then I expected..

I probably forgot to also mention...

Jim thanks for taking Theresa's mom out in the GT3! She enjoyed it since she has never been out on the track before..

Where the heck did you disappear to? What's wrong with the car? I came back in from a session and you were nowhere to be found....

Speaking on that.. I reviewed the video I took, that one time I fish tailed really hard... It did not look as bad as it felt.. It almost sounds like I didn't completely back off Like I thought, I just let off really quick but not 100% happend pretty fast it's hard to tell.. I defnitely need to work on being more smooth.. Everything taught in the class made perfect sense.. So not only was this fun but I really feel I learned some things yesterday and that I need to learn more..

Even letting off a little bit will unload the rear, can't usually get it back with more throttle. It's a natural instinct that you will have to retrain your brain with, it took me awhile and a few spins. Wait until you do that with a little more speed.

Can't wait to see some of your video. (and pictures)

Looks like you had a blast, Rick! Jim's a great instructor, as he taught me how to drive the tires off the wheels!

Hmmmmmmm, wait a minute......I've not been invited back

Hey Fred,

You should have called me; I've been through the Sharkbar install hassle. (I wouldn't have helped, of course, but I would have laughed... ) Did you get the new interior panels that are pre-drilled for the bar, or did you drill them yourself?

Speaking of harnesses, Mike would have had a better ride if he would have tightened the harnesses up more. He spent a lot of time bouncing around inside the car. The Z seats are fine for driving on the road, and are definitely comfortable, but it's like sitting on a slip'n'slide when you're on the track.
