Default Illinois Changed Air Law

Recent changes to the Vehicle Emissions Inspection Law of 2005 provide that vehicles of model year 1995 and older that are in compliance with the law as of February 1, 2007, will no longer be subject to emissions testing.

I wish they would do away with the whole program. It is a drain on the tax payers.

Wow! That's awesome! I guess they don't want to bother maintaining the equiptment for testing anymore, since they just use an ODBDII scanner on all 1996 and newer cars.

I wonder if next year it will be 1997 cars and newer, then 98 the following year, etc. The whole program does seem like a real waste of money though, how bad can the newer cars actually be?
