I went to New York last weekend for a few parties. The friend I stayed with lives a ten minute walk from Ground Zero, so I went down to pay my respects. I'm only in the first picture because I thought it'd be disrespecful for me to pose for pictures.

I was there in 2003. It was very interesting the fact that it was so quiet around the area, and everywhere else in NYC is so loud. It was eerie yet solemn at the same time! Here's some daytime pics... Unfortunately i never had a chance to visit NYC prior to the attack!

Here is the famous church

Here's a shot of where the towers used to be.. This was taken from the island that the statue of liberty is on

I was there in Dec 03, saddest thing I've ever seen. got pics of all the workers getting rid of the debris, the church that was used by all the workers, & the fence where everyone put up pics of their loved ones.
something I'll never forget.

I've never been to the site, but after looking at these pictures I still get a lump in my throat, and I hold back the tears from seeing what used to be. The world witnessed a terrible tragedy, in which I pray will never happen again.

God, those pics bring it all back I wish I could have seen them in person before I still think we should rebuild them just the way they were and hold my finger up to the east and say "F. U. A-HOLE!"
Sorry got carried away

I hope it's alright that I'm posting these pictures. I considered that before I started the thread.

My friends' home is a few blocks away, to the north of the site. After 9/11 everything around was covered in so much debris that they had to leave for a while. It was surreal.

but for once, New Yorkers acknowledged each other's existance on the subway and street

I think it was in OT a few days ago there was a thread with a 911 call from 3 guys I think on the 103rd floor. The 911 operator was talking to them the whole time until the building collapsed with them. The last thing you heard the caller say was OH GOD! then nothing. pretty frightening to listen to.

Thanx for the pictures. I'll always remember where I was that day as I'm sure everyone else will too.

Gary

Hokie, I think your theory about me having the hat, is flawed.
In fact I think an apology is in order, these pictures were posted while I was at a car show.
I DON'T HAVE YOUR HAT.

In fact I am starting to think you are doing it. Maybe it is attention you crave.

I was there on the 17th of last month, and those pics were great. One thing that I would like to add is that pictures can't prepare one for the emotions one will feel once one goes there to actually see it. It's definately worth seeing.
