Okay, I must've gotten careless with my jack last year. While getting my C5 ready for this year I noticed a small crack on my right front fender, near the lower attachment point (behind the wheel opening). The crack hasn't reached the attachment point yet. Wondering if anyone out there has recommendations on how to fix this and/or where to get it done. I'm not good on bodywork. I'm thinking that the crack could be repaired with some reinforcement from the backside, therefore I don't need to get the fender refinished.
I live in Livingston County, by the way (Genoa Township). Will travel to have this done right!
Location: I finished a Marathon, did you? Michigan
Try Penningtons on Rochester Road in Troy. Just north of 15 mile road. I know they do work on Vettes. Or even the Vette Shop which I believe is in Eastpointe. Good luck and be careful next time!
If it is not in a visible location, as in on the underside lying on your back to see it, I would leave well enough alone, now if it is on the class A surface aka visible from a standing position...maybe some work is in order..

diviniti - if you don't mind, when you fix yours, let me know what you did and whether you did it yourself or what shop did it.
The crack isn't visible unless you're laying on your back and know exactly what you're looking for. I was thinking that some reinforcement on the backside would prevent the crack from lengthening.
Or just make your own pads with an eye bolt and two hockey pucks, I think they are like $2 each at play it again, yelloyello and I made a set of 4 in like 20 minutes 2 summers ago...

I plan on fixing it myself and repainting the car myself.
In your case, you might be ok with applying some plastex compound to the crack, and then just for peace of mind, lay a few pieces of fiberglass matting over the crack for reinforcement. (On the back side for both the compound and matting)
