Anybody need a mechanical engineer who's also a car guy?
OK, I know this isn't monster.com, but I could use some help from my fellow Forum members in the midwest group!
Son graduated from Univ. of Toledo with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and he hasn't been able to land that first job yet. Well guess where he's staying - with us! Average GPA, co-op time and a variety of college kid type jobs under his belt. He's had several interviews, a couple where he made the final cut, but didn't get the offer.
I'm an educator with some HR experience, but I don't know the engineering field very well. He's doing all of the usual things - resume posted on line, checks the on line and print want ads every week, has his name with several head hunter type firms, networking with everyone he can think of, etc, etc. He's willing to relocate pretty much anywhere.
I need to know about the ME job market - is it good, bad,or what? Seems that everyone wants at least 3-5 years of experience. Also, any ideas about other things he needs to do? Any of you that have been through this with your kids know how frustrating this can be for them.
Any words of wisdom, suggestions, ideas, etc. will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!
Paul
Oh, by the way, he's more of a tuner car guy, rather than a Vette guy, but he likes to drive the C-6 when I let him!

Email me his resume and have him send me what he is looking to do, willing to relocate?
