Default Chicagoland L98 (and LT1) Tuner needed

looking for a tuner for my 90 corvette... currently has a chip burnt by ligenfelter for their 383 but it is in the shop getting bored out an extra .005" (was originally .030") and the cam is being swapped from a 219/219 to a 224/228

also putting in a 3k torque converter.

I have done some searching and have come up with a couple finds here in the boards - but most have mixed reactions. They are

HP Performance
BV Performance
and Dan Bills (?) at Finish Line Performance

I was wondering if anyone could recommend one of the above or someone else. and if someone has contact info for dan/FLP as google is of no help

LT1 tuner needed is for a 92 LT1 383 build up with a procharger

Thanks in advance
~John

Dan is the best at FLP, After going thru other tuners I ended up with him, Don't make the same mistake I did, Just go to him and he will do you good. Ken

DAN BILLS at FLP is the tuning GURU!!!!!!!!!!!! See their website on this forum as they are a forum tuner located in the Naperville/Aurora area (Finish Line Performance)!!

If you are looking for a shop in the south suburbs Powerhouse Performance in Orland Park, IL (Ask for Chris or John) also will get you tuned up!!!

Another choice for the Schaumburg area in the Northwest burbs is Jim Moran of Speed Inc (LS1 Speed).

I have used all at various time on the 4 C5s i have owned and you can't go wrong with any of the above choices!!

Thank you for the responses thus far.

I have contacted the various places listed here (including FLP) and have been told that none of them do tuning on the L98

are there any tuners that work on L98 cars with OEM ECU's (as opposed to stand alones ALA FAST/TEC/BIG)

thanks

As a fellow L98 guy I will tell you that tuners look at C4's as dinosaurs at this point.

Programming a 15 year old ecm (or older) is not what they want to do.

If you want to get your C4 screamin fast and be able to program it, you will need to bite the bullet and go with a FAST or ACCEL DFI type system.

My two cents.

Thanks Matt - Would they just reprogram the chip or is there other work involved? - Do you have a rough idea what this would cost. I currently have a Super Ram FI system. Also, do you know any local tuners that would work on this after the chips be reprogrammed?

If you are referring to an ACCEL or FAST system there are no chips.

Take your stock ECM and wiring harness and put it in mothballs.

With either of these systems you will then have a laptop interface.
This will allow you to change air/fuel/rpm etc, for whatever mod you want to do. Change cams, heads, whatever.
also allow for N2O if you want. Flexible.

Cost? you are looking at $2500 I think plus programming.

I do not know if he is still in business, but avoid BV performance. The guy is a HACK.

I do recommend Jim at Speed Inc. He knows LT1's well, especially forced induction set ups.
