Rene, I'm not a member (yet) of any car clubs here in MI, yet I'd like to participate in this event. Also, am I right in saying I need to have some "track time" before I can participate in this event? I really want to participate in these events. What do I need to do?

More info on who can participate -didn't find out much from website.
Thanks
Anyone can run the test and tune sessions, NCCC or not, Corvette or not. To run the time trials, you must be an NCCC high speed license holder or show proof of having run a recognized track school or run 10 autocrosses within the last year.

Time trials-similar to an autocross in that it's a timed, single lap of the track, not wheel to wheel racing. But there are no cones like in an autocross.
The test and tune sessions are open lapping with passing on the straight. But these sessions are non-competitive, no timing set up, and no racing. They are to learn the track and tune your car.

So we can run, without any prior track experience all day, with the exception of just the High Speed time trials?
Cool, I am game.

Thanks 69autoXr, you hit it right on the spot. The first Test and Tune is around 2 hours with the first hour being a lead-follow, mainly to get newbies and experienced drivers an easy and relaxed way to learn the track and its proper track line. The second hour you are allowed to practice at your own pace following certain rules. Some of the rules are passing on the designated straightaway, pass on left side only, car being passed bust give you a point-by first before you pass. You must give point-by to each car that wants to pass you. You must come to the line, where the starter is, ready to go, seatbelt on, helmet on, etc., and wait for the go ahead and proceed on to the track immediately when instructed to do so. Not following these rules will get you plenty of paddock parking time and the opportunity to watch everyone else run all day long. If you need a High Speed license in a hurry, there will be 5 low speed autocrosses this Saturday in the Flint/Holly area and 5 more at Owosso Speedway in Owosso on Sunday. Attending the 10 low speeds and the AM lead-follow practice on the actual track will get you enough seat time to run the High Speed Time Trials on the 17th.
Out of towners and locals can drop off their trailers on Saturday afternoon at the track. Registration and tech will be held for the early birds. Kschwamy and Kellermeyer will be hosting a little cook-out late in the afternoon.
Location: Elmhurst, IL (West Suburb of Chicago) & Home of MEGA Horsepower

Yup, rain or shine. Last year at Grattan for the high speed series it rained pretty much the whole first day. If anyone thinks Waterford is daunting, they should try Grattan in the wet!
