Default East side of Detroit - need service

Hi,

I live on the eastside of Detroit (MT Clemens) and my 91 engine service light went on (then off and on and off). Car runs rough.

Need a recommendation for where to take the car other than a chevy dealer.

The Vette Shop on Gratiot has closed.

Thanks.

Jeff

The Vette Shop is no longer on Gratiot, but they have not closed, just inbetween shops right now. You can call Terry at 586.615-7251, and ask when the new shop will be open, or I have also used K & D Automotive on Gratiot and 10 Mile Road, ask for Dale. As with any recommendation . . . enter at your own risk, do your homework and ask lots of questions. I have used both of these places, and would recommend them for mechanical work. I also do business with both as well. You can mention Cindy sent you. Good luck with your problems and make sure to wave . . . I'm from the Clem as well.

p.s. You didn't happen to recently wash your engine area did ya? Our year vettes don't like water, especially around the opti.

Cindy - thanks.

I live over by Mac and Rays....and have a blue 91 convertible.

Always wave.

You may seen me cruising around in a 65 shelby cobra (yellow with black stripes).

Take care,

Jeff

no opti-spark on 91's, they were the last year of the l98 motors.

to pull a code out of your car, it's pretty simple. it should be the same way as in my 86.

1. grab yourself a paper clip, straighten it out and then bend it into a U-shape.
2. make sure the car is off.
3. under the driverside dash you'll find the ALDL. stick the paper clip ends into the top right 2 pin-slots.
4. have a piece of paper and pen ready.
5. turn the ignition to on (do not start it)
6. the SES light will start to blink "code" 12 three times. (blink, pause, blink, blink, long pause, then repeat two more times)
7. right down any other numbers that blink out (each one will repeat 3 times until it blinks out 12 again and then starts to repeat).

there's a listing somewhere what all the codes represent, i'll see if i can find it.

let us know what the code number is and we might be able to save you some money and a trip to the shop.

if no codes are stored it will just continue to blink out 12.
