I got a call from Sasso1 (Ron) earlier today so he could check out the sounds from my set of B&B PRT's. We hooked up after work and went over to get the Vette out. Let it warm up for a few minutes, savoring the sounds, and jumped in to let Ron check out the sounds at speed. Less than 2 blocks from the house, I pull up to a stop sign. There is a Buffalo Grove LEO already stopped at the intersection to my left, so I figure I have to let himgo first. He starts to move, and stops about 1/4 of the way into the intersection. I wait. He waits. I tell Ron " I think I'm about to get a ticket for no front plate." After waiting about 30 seconds (felt alot longer), the LEO turns and stops next to me. I roll down the window. He asks if everything is ok. I reply that everything is just fine. He comments that he thought I wasn't going to stop for the sign, as I stopped past the sign, but still before the intersection. Told him I would be more careful and we all went on our way. Guess he is a Vette enthusiast, too.
Its a good thing I ran into him then, because 10 minutes later I'm sure he could have ticketed me for something as I showed Ron the full sounds from the B&B's.
i dont know what it is with IL and the front plate law. I have never had my front plate on and have never gotten a ticket for it. but all my friends do all the time. everyday i hear how they got a ticket for the plate not on the front. i think we need to start a petition to have this law changed. whos with me!?

I ran no front plates on all my F-bodies, and whenever I got pulled over for speeding, or anything else, the LEO would always make mention of it, but never ticketed me for it since I was always being busted for something else at the time.
One time I had to pass through a road block (DUI check) Labor Day weekend, I passed through no problem, but again the LEO made mention of no front plate
No problems for the no front plate knock on wood...
I have gotten a ticket for my neon in the gills it's not ricey and is hardly noticeable.. I think he was looking to give me a ticket for something.. as I was getting on it a bit... Another time the cop pulled me over for doing 80 in a 55 and saw the neon said it was neat and gave me the speeding ticket.

I also run with no plate. Someone on this forum mentioned to put the plate on under the cover and carry a screwdriver and if you get pulled over just mention you came or are going to a show.
I now carry a screwdriver

Hey Steve,
Thanks again for letting me hear the B&B's on such short notice! I am already calling different shops to see the best price for B&B PRT's with speedway tips. I'm still considering the Borla stingers, but I really thought your B&B PRT's were reminiscent of my Borla catback's sound and loudness on my old 99 Trans Am. I like the aggressive tone!

Rick,
What was the ticket written up as for the neon in the gills?

Well, I must be one of the unfortunates. Not Corvette related, but I got a no plate ticket on a 71 RS. In fact, I was at a gas station, showing people the car, and I see the cop pull up and sit across in an empty lot. I leave, no noice or anything, very tamely. Pulls out behind me, follows me for like 1.5 miles - thorugh town, 35 mph - then lights me up. Best part: I had the plate SITTING ON MY DASHPAD!!!
Guy I bought it from did not have a palte and there were no holes drilled at the time. Jerk gave me a ticket anyway.
But, he was fired a few years ago for failure to protect the community, or something to that effect.
HA!
I was passing through a small town (Elburn) when a LEO passed me going the other way, turned around and pulled me over. He ended up giving me a ordinance violation which is basically was basically a $25 fine rather than a ticket.
I am now really paranoid and am debating on putting the front plate on now just so that I can drive in relative peace. I bought the clear cover and everything.

It was a while back, so I don't remmeber exactly. But it was a compliance ticket that the car cannot have blue lights or something $25 or take it to the police station and show proof they were removed and not have to pay. And if you get caught again its $75 I just paid it and said oh well.. Funny thing was my buddy was following me, and it was in a sub division and we did not see where the cop came from we can only conclude he was sitting in someones driveway.

Not trying to hijack this, but let's add that stupid tint law as well.

No kidding... Theresa got in a warning for the tint on her Denali, and she bought it with the tint on it.
I can see the validity of the argument that it is hard to see in the car and could cause a saftey hazard for a police officer. Since you can't see what someone is doing inside.

You have to put yourself in the cop's shoes. He pulls someone over, do they have a gun pointed at him? I would be really nervous not being able to tell what the driver is doing. As far as the front plate law, it sucks.
