Tell the world a little bit about your vehicle
Purchased in 2001 from American Sports Car Center in Atlanta, GA - known as "BuyaVette.net"
Spent the first 5 years as a daily driver logging about 100,000 miles on her. The past five years she has been in and out of the garage getting various mods. Currently she is getting a new 383 rebuild and transmission from PeteK.
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
383 Stroker, a conservative performance build with forged pistons, and rods, cast internally balanced Eagle crankshaft, Stock heads initially ported by Lloyd Elliot, but recently redone by Jerry Jackson of Jackson Machine Engines near Baltimore. 30lb SVO injectors matched by FIC, Pro-Products 58mm Throttle Body, MSD Opti-Spark, Exotic Muscle long tube headers through Random Tech Cats out to a Magnaflow Cat Back exhaust system.
The transmission has been blueprinted and rebuilt with HD internals by Pete Kane and a 3000 stall converter links the transmission to the rebuilt Dana 36 3.54 geared rear end.
Suspension Modifications:
Grand Sport Calipers and brackets up front getting rid of the stock 12" rotors in favor of the 13" bigger steel plates. Pads are currently HPS pads, 30mm VB&P front anti-sway bar, Koni Yellow Adjutable Shocks. New springs and bushings coming next winter.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
Wheels are American Racing Wheel Torque Thrust M with Anthracite colored spokes. Current rubber is Sumittomo but will be installing Kumhos again or Nitto for autocross
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
Seats covered in 2003 by Al Knoch in two-tone red/black.
Sun visors rebuilt and recovered, Console shift plate, radio bezel and AC trims all done in carbon fiber finish by American Hydrocarbon. I installed a Pioneer DVD/Nav system last year to replace the old Bose HU. I also did a short shifter mod and installed a pearl Flame Ball shift knob for automatics. I cut 2.5 inches from the shifter so that the DVD/Nav screen could easily be read.
Future Modifications:
This season I plan to do many autocross events with the car and hope to get four Koni Sport adjustable shocks installed with a new hollow 32mm sway bar up front and new heim jointed end links for the bar. Read more ยป
