Threads from vendors offering prizes to Forum members who post to the threads can be an effective attention-getter. They also have potential of overwhelming a section when they encourage multiple posts over long periods of time in order to improve the chances of winning the prize.
Unlike many sites for automotive enthusiasts, Corvetteforum has not been restrictive in preventing vendors from posting threads in discussion sections. The more such threads we get in discussion sections, however, the more push-back we get from Forum participants to prevent all vendor posting in discussion sections.
I'm going to impose a rule effective immediately regarding vendor giveaway and contest threads:
Only one giveaway thread at a time for any vendor. If you post the thread, for instance, in C6 General Discussion, you cannot post another such thread in any other section of the Forum until the first thread has been locked by a moderator.
The contest or giveaway thread will remain open for one week or until there are 500 posts, depending upon which comes first.
