Moderator Question regarding posting of pictures....
This is not really a complaint, just an interrogatory. Being one of the lucky ones still to be able to have a free home page here at the CF, I can understand the concept of having a limit on the size of pictures at 430 pixels wide, for certain items.
What I don't understand is why we can upload a jpeg photo to any size we want and store it in our homepage, but not be able to transfer only the URL to our post....it still gets cut down in size. Say one of your pictures is 8" x 10", when you open it up under the temp files, it IS the full size. Again, say it is a Corvette article which does not have a URL, so you scan it and upload it into your homepage. Realistically speaking, the article would have to be 8" wide in order for anyone to be able to read it.
If the bandwidth is being used up on the homepage anyway with a big pic, what difference does it make if you and other members reading your post only use the URL to get to that picture in your homepage? Doesn't make any sense to me.
The bottom line is...... I scanned a good car article out of magazine today and uploaded two pages into my homepage. The pics came out nice and big so you could read the text. I didn't try to actually show the pictures here, only that particular URL to my homepage. When I drag the URL over here to my post, I then hit on it, it shows it about half the actual size and therefore unreadable, yet it's still a good deal larger than 430 pixels for posting a picture.
It seems frustrating to be able to have the tools to make images that you want and can see actual size on your private page, but not be able to post the same over here? What gives?
I've tried uploading photos on my MSN site at 8" x 11" and then drag the URL over to my post here and it still gets cut down after the URL transfers you to the MSN site. What good is the ability to post pictures or URL's here when they are cut down so small no one can see or read them? Doesn't make any sense to me, we don't all have 20/10 vision! If we need to save more bandwidth, cut the sigs down to a lower size; they are redundant and expendable.

to make a long answer short.....the software automatically resizes the pics...the pics you see in the posts are resized.I think in the near future we will have to resize our own...but that is down the road
George, can you rephrase that? I don't understand. I know the pics are downsized, what's this about resizing our own? See '67's post above "Our Corvette Heritage" and hit page one for a good example.
"Down the road"? Sounds to me like it should be tomorrow!

Patrick, the resizing issue is just in the talking stages now. Means you will have to shrink any pictures on your own before they will upload to the corvetteforum homepages. If you have XP, you can resize the photo, if not then any photo editor can do the job.
As far as the text, that may be a problem. If and when this takes place, an announcement will be made, and ample time will be provided to resize the photos. The reason for this is obvious....almost everyone is using the homepages and store multiple pics, the storage has now become a concern, not to mention the slow speeds experienced by the dial ups.
Again, this is in the exploratory and talking stage now.
