I have a trailer hitch on my 78 that fits behind the license plate. Does anyone know what a factory/dealer trailer hitch install looks like?
Has anyone ever seen one?:skep:
Re: Factory Trailer Hitch (78). Any clues?? (Shawn's 78)
I've seen trailer hitches on Vettes before, Shawn, but I don't believe there was ever a factory trailer hitch for Vettes. :nonod: The Vette was never designed for towing.
Of course, if you stuck my extensive knowledge of Corvettes into a thimble, you'd still have room for your thumb. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable types will deign to reply to your question but I'm betting I'm right on this one!

Re: Factory Trailer Hitch (Mac)
There were factory hitch options for the Corvette. They were available for years 1977 - 1981.
The ones that I have seen, that I was told were factory, were mounted so they came out under the license plate frame. They had a chromed flat piece of metal to which the ball was mounted too.
Neat thing about the hitch option. It was usually only $100 - $120 for the hitch option, but it also got you the gymkhana suspension package, heavy duty cooling, heavy duty battery and other items with it.
On my 1980 the option code is ZN1

Re: Factory Trailer Hitch (Mac)
Sorry -- don't have a picture. I have seen some of them in the "C3 for sale" section, as well as e-bay.
I have seen MANY C4's and C5's with trailer hitches. It makes it easier for them to have a small trailer for their racing tires and tools for when they go autocross racing or drag racing.
