This was the MAD vette....Damn, talk about a premium, I was going to go and try bidding on this one, but that's way more than my wallet can hold.

Good thing I had to work... :D

I wonder why that COPO camaro was so cheap. That must have been for just the front cowl section with the vin and data plate . :D

LOL! Too true! Either that or absolutely no documentation... 1969 COPO 9561 cars have been selling in the $75,000-$100,000 range for quality restored cars with documentation.

I'd love to know the story behind this car.

The 1968 coupe that went for almost $60,000 is interesting too. Awfully high for an L-71 car... Perhaps an L-89?

Regards,

I am pretty sure it was an L-89, from the MAD collection. Another bronze L-89 coupe! :) MJ

Car was nicely done, but didn't have documentation; appeared to be an excellent clone, so it only brought clone money. The other side of my hobby is 1st-Gen Camaros, and there are more "clone/fake" COPO's, Z/28's, SS's, and Z-11 Pace Cars out there than you can imagine, now that their prices are skyrocketing. I'm a core member of the CRG (Camaro Research Group, http://www.camaros.org), and we have "the numbers" on over 6,000 1st-Gen Camaros in our database - we track these cars VERY closely, on a daily basis, and see swapped VIN's and swapped/fake repro trim tags every day - eBay is full of them. :bs

John,

From your description, the auction results make perfect sense... Thanks for the additional information.

Have you heard anything regarding the Chevrolet vehicle information that Jim Mattison apparently has?

Regards,

Regards,
I know Jim's firm was contracted by Chevrolet about 18 months ago to try and hunt down the old records (this is the third "hunt", by the way - Chevy has tried internally twice before); I'm sure if they find anything, Jim will let us know. I know Jim, and if I don't hear it from him, it's just another rumor.

Also saw where the "First C5 Delivered" got a whopping $26,950 :lolg:

In other words-it's like Big Freakin" Deal :lolg:

I'm surprised at the two '88 Challenge cars going for $18K apiece, seems like it was'nt that long ago those cars brought double that or even more:confused:

The '82CE must have been "upped" by ProTeam, they sell their low mile CE's for $29,995.00+tax :lolg:

Mike paid (if I remember correctly - I was there ) $80k for that 62 Sebring car, so he was hosed if he only got $50,600. I think he even put money INTO it after he bought it, as it looks a lot better than it did at the Bloomington auction several years ago.

I'm suprised at the low Challenge prices too. I'm just as surprised that he sold his "first C5" as well as many of his others.
