Default Which radio do I use for my 72?

I am restoring a 72 that originaly came with the optional stereo. Unfortunatly the radio was missing when I purchased the car. What I have found in my research is that there were two different stereo radios that the 72's came equipped with. One model has the stereo"dot" in the upper right hand corner of the glass lense and the other has "stereo" in the same location. Both radios have the original 72 labels still on the case but I dont know which to use. I have both radios in my posession so I am not dreaming this up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott

Scott,. You are correct that both of those radios were available in 72. Either radio would be correct on a restoration. There were difference in the radios from 70-75. The stereo radio in 72 had an orange dot as the stereo indicator. The color of the dot in latter years used a different color [cant remember the color] and the earlier years the word stereo was lit in a green light.

I have only seen 68 and 69 with the "stereo" unit. There may have been some in 70, but 72 should have the dot.

Not much to add except to say that I do know that 68 and 69 stereo radios did light up "STEREO" in the upper right hand corner. 68's had the word "STEREO" light up in cursive/script writing, while 69's had the word "STEREO" light up in block letters. Chuck
