Default I have a set of #186 heads that are dated C239....

...the engine block date is July 10, 1969. Car was built July 24, 1969. Are these heads dated too early for the engine, or is this date still acceptable? I know that heads would sometimes sit on the shelf for awhile.

Heads "typically" are dated within a week or two of the block they were born with, but there are exceptions; NCRS recognizes this and allows up to a six month "window" for dated components (although head casting numbers and dates aren't judged - just external configuration and casting symbols on the end of the heads).

thanks John, I'm gonna keep these for now. I have S/R Torkers on the car at present.

When you were at Viper, did you know Joe Gall? He was an engineer on the viper.

Thanks again. :seeya

Nope, not on my roster - must have been prior to '95, or helped out from another platform group
