For those that have not heard already, Dale is in the hospital in critical but stable condition. There is a contact address, for those who wish to send their best wishes to Dale and his family posted over at the NCRS board.
The thread on the tech board said that Dale had ruptured an artery in his esophgus (sp?). He was in surgery twice, and they had to "bypass his liver"? the second time.
Dale is one of the folks I admire most in NCRS...I hate to see him having these problems.
I called the hospital yesteday, they said he is still out due to the medication. The guy I talked to was very guarded in his comments, but said Rev should pull through, once the meds wear off.
I'm gonna call later today and let ya know what's what.
Dale's in ICU, so no flowers are permitted, and he probably won't be awake until tomorrow (came off the ventilator today), but I'm sure he'd appreciate cards when he's able to sit up and read them - hospital address is:
Jackson-Madison County General Hospital
708 W. Forest Ave.
Jackson, TN 38301-3901

Isn't this called a spontaneous aneurysm? I sure hope he recovers from this event, but from what you said above, it doesn't sound very promising.

Well, nothing in my TV show doctor training disagrees with that description, Patrick.
I think it could go either way at Dale's age. The damage has been done; it's simply a matter of his body being strong enough to recover now.
All of you who believe in prayer: When your head hits the pillow tonight, send a special one up for Dale to be healed and brought back to good health. If what you ask is in His will, it WILL be done.
The great thing about the Rev is that he is unique: he is opinionated, he speaks his mind, but he respects those that disagree with him, he loves solid axles, and he is, in a nutshell, a Character. He fits this hobby like a hand to a glove. If you have met him, you won't soon forget him. I love the guy and I have only met him twice.
Gary
ps, if you believe int he power of prayer, then do that!
Amen...and The Rev has a great sense of humor and wit. The times we had on the old NCRS board with our banter should go down as classics. We had some of the stuffed shirts believing The Rev and I were at each other's throats....what a hoot that was.
I use to lurk around the old NCRS board and remember you guys going at it.
Too bad this is another wake up call for all of us that we are not promised another day or second chance. We need to enjoy EVERY day and take nothing for granted.
IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck (she wrote this after being diagnosed with cancer)
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren’t there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the "good" living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn’t show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I’d of cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you’s." More I’m sorry’s."
But mostly, given another shot at life I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it...live it... and never give it back. Stop sweating the small stuff.
Don’t worry about who doesn’t like you, who has more, or who’s doing what.
Instead, lets cherish the relationships we have with those who love us.
Words to live by.
Here's wishing the best for Dale Pearman......"The Rev". :flag
The latest....Dale has been upgraded from poor to fair condition. The nurse in Intensive Care said if his condition continues to be fair for the next few days, he will be moved out of intensive care and be moved into his own rhim wiff a tefelone
Talked to Dale, the old coot sure is feisty...thinks he's gonna go home today....
Dale said he'd like to hear from all his buds so, the above number is a direct line to his rhim.
Oh, one more tink....let the tefelone ring a while, Dale is still under the influence of drugs, and half coherent, and it will take a while for the ol' boy to reach the phone, so, let it ring.....he ain't goin' nowhere.
