Default Son of Maryland Spring Compressor........

The Ontario Bearing Race Press....

If you don't have easy access to a hydraulic press......and.......you don't have the correct diameter drift to go along with it.......here's a solution for pressing in the inner and outer bearing races for the rear spindle.

Both inner and outer races are actually "recessed" below the face of the spindle, meaning that if you simply use this homemade tool as a press, the races will not be limited against (or reach) their seats in the spindle. The press will limit against the spindle face before the race is all the way in.

What to do?
Easy........you did keep the old races that you previously pounded out of the spindle, right? (You always keep "all" the old parts at least until the job is complete, right?) :D

Simply set the old race on top of the new race to add the "correct diameter" extra press depth required to push that new race fully into the spindle. Squeeze the lower nut in the vise and turn down the upper nut to activate your homemade "press".

The old race does tend to get stuck in there on top of the new race, but you simply turn the spindle over and lightly tap the "extra" race out using a screwdriver. Job done.

One final note. It is crucial to start pressing with the races sitting flat. You don't want to press them in on an angle or "crooked". Eyeball them first.
