Default Quadrajet #'s

Where can I look up Quadrajet Numbers ? I have the "Corvette ID
Numbers 53-93" book, but there are no listings of carb #'s.

Post your engine size/hp, transmission (4 speed or auto), whether Fed or California car, and we can post the number for you.

OK, now that I know mine is not original, what is this from:

17054923...0736. From a carb site I found it indicates 1976 ???

Am I on target with this ? Is it necessarily from a Corvette ? :cry

Yeah, looks like March 13, 1976 or...1986. Ah, don't take it too bad...When you buy an old Corvette like your 71, you can pretty much expect the original carb, alternator, master cylinder and water pump to be gone, replaced by a Pep Boys rebuilt part. If you have any of those in the original incarnation, you have done well.

Not sure what the part number application is, but since it is a GM part, it could be that the application for that part number is exactly a 71 350/270hp, four speed. The dealer would have had to special ordered it in the late seventies, and then wait for it to arrive for installation.

Five years (from 71 to 76) doesn't seem to me like a reasonable service life for a carburetor, but 1986 seems pretty late to be able to get one. Of course, it could be a carb from a 76 that was turned in as a core, and then rebuilt to some Corvette specs. I doubt that the rebuilders inventory as many carb specs as were originally specified by GM...there could be a little compromising going on for these old carbs.

Clem is the carb expert; if he reads this thread, maybe he can add something more.
