Re: Mac........what would you say to this guy? (67HEAVEN)
Excellent picture! I know just what I would say- I've got my schtick worked out to a 'T' ;)
"Good morning/afternoon/evening, sir. I pulled you over for (insert driving offense). I need to see your driver's licence and the vehicle registration."
Straight forward and to the point- no room for argument. I don't have any patience for the "Do you know how fast you were going, boy?" school of thought, hoping the driver will admit guilt. If I'm pulling someone over, I know they were breaking the rules, otherwise I wouldn't be stopping 'em. Whether I write a ticket or not depends on the situation and yes, I like guys who tell the truth. I've never given a warning to someone who lied to me. Ticket or warning all count the same at the end of the month. There is no quota but there is a minimum expectation of job performance. :D
Re: Mac........what would you say to this guy? (Mac)
I got stopped this July, in South Georgia, on the way to Florida. Big black State Patrol officer. He said " We clocked you doing 90 from the overpass". I said " I just didn't realize it (I really didn't)". He said, "90 mph is too fast for this car to be travelling". Gave me a ticket and I was on my way in about 2 minutes. I couldn't argue - I was going that fast. At least, he didn't lecture me. So, I mailed in my $180.00 fine  to contribute to the local economy of that town.

Well, Ghost, you should have got him straightened right out by saying..."Oh no, officer, this car will do a 150 mph easy; I was holding it back."

I've read quite a few stories on this forum about them. Most people swear by them. Are they really that good ? Their the one that has the direction arrow, right ? I've had Whistler's in the past that were also pretty good. I know all their hiding places within 100 miles of here. But, outside of that, I would feel more comfortable with a detector. I honestly don't speed that much, but like to cruise around 75 - 80 (road and conditions permitting).

I am always careful to avoid statements like this. Years ago, I talked myself into trouble by lecturing a truck driver about his driving record. He said "I'm a professional driver- I know what I'm doing!" but his driving record read like a bad novel, so I gave him my opinion on his professionalism and a ticket. Next thing I know, I was dragged up on the carpet by the boss to explain my actions. Learning curve- don't say anything you don't want to have to explain. :nonod:
Re: Mac........what would you say to this guy? (Grey Ghost)
Nope. The offended driver went directly to the office (with my ticket in his hand) and complained about my attitude. I guess the guy was hoping he would get out of the ticket (ie: the best defence is a strong offence). The boss listened and wanted to hear my side of the story. Generally referred to as an 'informal complaint against officer'.
The guy didn't get his wish- the ticket was not 'removed' and he never disputed it.

Mac,
If undercover police work is even 10% of what goes down in this movie........
Police work, in general, is an eye opening experience. You get to see a whole different side of people and it ain't always pretty. I've never worked undercover. I do surveillance and detective work now but, from what I've heard, it can get pretty hairy.
