Recommended paint for engine compartment, and frame?
What is the recommeded paint and color for detailing the engine compartment (inner fenders, firewall, etc...) and also for doing some frame on detailing of the frame?
I have heard to use Semi-flat black for some of the engine compartment, is this good? Also, does anyone then use any type of clear coat spray on the parts too?

For the engine compartment, use John Deere Blitz Black in 12 oz. spray cans, only available from a John Deere Dealer. It's a semi-flat eggshell black. Just about everyone from the NCRS uses it. For the frame, I used Rustoleum satin black in cans, but others have used POR-15, which you can brush on. It should be a semigloss paint though.
If you want to clearcoat the bolts etc, the best is Krylon Matte clear spray, actually made for pictures or posters, etc., but it dries to a dull finish, which is hard to detect. I used it on all my front end hardware.

I use Eastwoods underhood black. The only problem with it is it will blush(chalk out )if it is used in high humidity or early in the morning when there is alot of moisture in the air. :seeya
