Default Cheesy Corvette White Letter Tires

Seems I've noticed more and more of these lately. Are white letter tires becoming more popular again. The cheesiest??? Saw a guy with a set of "HONCHO HERCULES" white letters. Also recently saw a set of "GILLETTE ACCELERATORS". With the risk of getting flamed :) I generally don't like white letter tires on Corvettes.

BUT....if you choose to run white letter tires, why not buy a name brand like Firestone, Goodyear, Goodrich, or Uniroyal. Why advertise oddball, cheapo brands like "HONCHO's" or "GILLETTE's" on your Corvette.

What's the oddest/cheesiest tire you've seen on a Corvette? (or any other car, for that matter) Chuck

I agree ,I like wide ovals on the early cars or eagle gts on the late C3s but other than that blackwalls, redlines ,goldlines, or white walls. The worst has got to be the idiots that put those yellow lettered nascar tires on their cars. :U

Chuck,
The only thing worse is white-walls on those otherwise beautiful midyear cars. :U

My white letters are "inside".

Pass the cheese, Please. :D They had a special on cheese when I bought my tires. $25.00 a tire and at the time I just needed a set for the rolling chassis. Will upgrade when I get to it on my list.

67HEAVEN,

Nice rubber! Why didn't you go for the big stuff? Running BFG RWL on my '63, with chrome wheels,......to each his own. BTW, I have the correct hubcaps and rims if I choose to be "correct".

Winston Winner GT's :) I'll have to add that to my list. I've seen "Dayton Daytona's" too sometime in the distant past. Do you prefer Swiss, Brie, or Velveeta? :) Chuck

Is that a car that I see between all THAT rubber !

I like a small white wall on some midyears - my 66 had original hubcaps, so I think it depends on the car/wheels.

I went to PEP Boys, when I was shopping for tires. They had the off brand cheapo tires. I could bend both sidewalls together by squeezing with one hand  And I thought....People are actually using these things ? I went to Sams, and got a nice set of Michelins at a VERY reasonable price.

I went through a little bit of RWL withdrawal when I put blackwalls on my 68. (BFG T/A) but somehow they started looking a lot better after I saw a 68 L-88 same color as mine with blackwalls! I do have a hard time with RWL in a Japanese tire on a vette. Just doesnt look right to see "SUMITOMO" or "MIZUNO" in RWL on a vette! laised retter tiles! I guess you would call that Cheezie Japaneezee! :) MJ

Hey Heaven. I see "GT QUALIFIER" on those "inside out" white letters. Don't see a brand. You're not running "WOMBAT's" are you. :)

My wife bought a new Saturn VUE a month or so ago. I've driven it once. It's her car. Was checking the tires. No white letters, but she has a set of "Bridgestone Dueler's" on it. Who thinks of these names? Dueler? I think of 2 guys with pistols at 20 paces :) Chuck

Why Chuck.......I'm mortified!!! To think that you doubt my veracity.

These are by Dunlop, a name that is synonymous with excellence.

Dunlop Tyres Ltd. (an old British company) has a proud history extending back to the 19th century, and today is part of the world's top tire manufacturer - Goodyear. Dunlop will be the exclusive tire in the Rolex Sports Car Series SportsRacing Prototype II and GT classes through the 2004 season.

My wife tells me I have Dunlop disease....my belly "dun-lop" over my belt. :) Dunlop definitely makes a quality product, but down South, we call them tires, not tyres. :) Chuck
