Default 70 chrome

I replaced the chrome door handles in my 68 years ago with new ones that I got from GM.

I don't know who was doing what on replacements but I do know that my original 70 door handles look really good compared to the GM replacements I installed on my 68 about 22 years ago.

Default handles

The handles being sold by the Corvette parts venders could be better than what GM was selling when I bought replacements for my 68 many years ago.

The chrome is wearing on the 68 replacements where you put your fingers to push down on the flap. If it was a true quality part, they should be still in very good condition since the 68 has not been a daily driver since the door handles were replaced.

Alot of work to replace handles and they are fading. I dont know what to do then. Seems like I have to try to get someone to try to rechrome mine.

Buy new GM models, if you rechrome they will not have the proper finish inside the "cup" area like the originals. Once you install the new handles, use your shirt as a glove to open then, the chrome finish will last a long time!!!!

Be aware some of the repro handles being sold are poor quality. Do some comparison shopping if you decide to replace what you have.
