Default Tranmission tag help

Hey guys,

I have a '71 LS-5 car with 4 speed. I am trying to find the correct metal tag for the transmission. My judging guide doesn't mention it. It is not in my old parts books either. My date code is: P1T16A. Another Corvette enthusiast suggested 3974484WN as the correct #. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Jim.

The lead sheet in the M20 section of your Assembly Manual should have a listing of transmission assembly part numbers and their applications; all the midyear assembly manuals do.

John,

The trans tag is shown under L337 in the option sheets section, however it is shown as 'dangling' from the passenger side fill or drain plug, which isn't possible because of the size of hole in the metal tag. My two cars have the metal plate under the rear shift bolt of the side cover. Is this correct?

The embossed metal part number tag is always found under a side cover bolt.
