Default Chrome refinishing

I'm in the process of re-sealing the windshield and would like to get the side posts refinished. - It's all apart now.

Does anyone know of a reputable business that can refinish the posts.
There is some minor pitting bit no rust.

Thanks -

Buy a Hemmings Motor News, the amount of platers in there will make your head spin!!!! From personal experience, Pauls Chrome in PA, fast and good

Those are stainless steel and should only need polishing.

Thanks - I've seen other posts about Pauls - They are supposed to do a quality job - but may be pricey.

I inquired at Nu-Chrome in Fall River, MA - and their response did not impress me.
They can give you a finish that is either Show quality or Daily Driver quality. Not an impressive response - I'd prefer someone that always did a quality job.

- Also found another forum that suggested that Nu-Chrome is a place to avoid.
Unlike Pauls in PA - Nu-Chrome site says nothing about their process.

Think I'll give Pauls a try-

Thanks again

The top and bottom are stainless - but the sides are chrome for sure - - This is from 1962 - when Chrome made the car - a time before plastic.

You are right - in that I can buff up the stainless

You caught me off guard, I assumed you had a C3 (68-82) although after seeing where you posted I'm not sure why I assumed that.

Do my chrome bumpers count?

Just is case others are looking to do the same - I called Pauls in PA and got a verbal estimate of around $350 - per post.

I then called a place in TN - and they said between $350-375 per post.

As I am on a limited budget - I think I'll put it back together as is. - It's not a show car.

i need my valve covers re-chromedd but every place I call wants 250 a piece...they're crazy!

500 bucks for the valve covers..I didn't even ask about my air cleaner lid and shielding.

so spend another 300$ in long distance phone calls to get more quotes, and the 500$ a pair will begin to start looking good!!!

Hello,
I have a plater near my house, and they do great work. as a matter of fact I just dropped the following items off my '68 a few weeks ago. I have seen the quality of their work and I thought it was outstanding.

Rear bumpers
front bumpers
front bumperettes
front grille surrounds
shifter console
427 hood inserts

Can wait to get them back

First, try local places that specialize in restoring old cars with the idea of finding where you would go to restore chrome on a bumper for instance.
Secondly, you may find a silverplating place in your local yellow pages. Call a silverplating place and see if they can steer you to an appropriate place.
