Default '69 427/435 Casting Dates

For a 1/7/69 assembly date for a '69 427/437 can someone tell me is it frowned upon to have say a J coded block coupled with L coded heads and August '68 carbs? Is there a big difference in value or do I need to go after as close as possible same month castings and carbs? I can get my hands on these parts now, but am in no rush. Need advice.

Finally, what would ideal head, block casting and carb dates be for this assembly date? Thanks in advance for the help.

Oct (J) and Dec (L), are perfectly acceptable dates for a Jan. build car. Heads and blocks often carry different dates. I would think that late in Oct and early in Dec would be a preferable mix, but not required. Remember, Chevrolet wasn't building show cars, no one was looking at casting dates as they pulled parts off a shelf to put them together.

The August dates on the carbs is probably a little early, but possible. The NCRS generally allows 6 months prior to the car build date as an acceptable parts date. August obviously is within the 6 month window.

I wouldn't shy away from these parts because of the dates.
