Body dolly?

Buy Noland Adams body off How To. It inlcudes plans for a body dolly.

Just remember: Never, never do body gap / alignment work on a dolly. Always do your major bodywork on the frame with the shim kit you'll be using at project end.

RestoDoc,

Is that something the Adams video suggests doing? That does seem to make sense...

I WAS planning on puling the body, placing it on the dolly and traveling around 600 miles with it in the back of an enclosed trailer for the body work while I do the frame work myself....(unfortunately my body work will be farmed out, and far away!). Is this crazy? Will the dolly in Noland's video provide enough support for the trip?

Finally, is that a Corvette spinning on a rotisserie in your image? I was on here not long ago and was discouraged from using a rotisserie for the body work....was told the body was too flexible to be placed on one... Could you provide some enlightenment? I just want to do this job the right way the first time through.

Thanks so much for the feedback thus far. This is truly a wonderful forum.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not at all familiar with Noland's cd / book or what the dolly in question is, but I know that it is very important to do the gap and major bodywork on the frame of the car, with the shims that you'll end up with. The bodyshop will generally have your body longer than it will take you to assemble the chassis, but what you might consider is this: Ship the chassis with body to the bodyshop and let them do the major bodywork. When the bodywork is done, have them pull the body and put it on your dolly. They can do all the paint work and finishwork on the dolly, while you have the chassis to do your thing.
As far as the rotisserie is concerned, ours is strong enough to support the Corvette body without over-flexing it. We also have cushioned beams we install in lieu of the doors to give the body more rigidity. We' have done many Corvettes on this rotisserie from '53 to '67. Haven't had a shark on it yet, but we could whenever one comes along for full body-off and rotisserie work.
