I can't be 100% since I didn't buy the car new, and I have had the engine out a couple of times, but pretty sure I have the original bolts back in.

Anyway, mine matches the top rusty one. The bolt "head" is too thin I think to properly space the bracket. You would need a thick washer in there.

thanks I personally thought the bolt I removed was probably the correct ony myself because this car is pretty much in tact down to correct bolts etc..

Not sure what you mean by "The bolt "head" is too thin I think to properly space the bracket. You would need a thick washer in there.
" which bolt the new incorrect one or the old original?

can you explain that a little more I'm kinda lost. but all in all the new one I recevied from paragon doesn't match whats your on 68 bb but the rusty bolt I removed does?

thanks again!

I said "head" because I guess this stud doesn't really have a head. If it were a bolt, and the part you put the wrench on, that would be the head. The same on this one but it has a second threaded stud sticking out of it.

Notice the rusty one you have is thicker (taller). The new one is thinner (shorter). Since they didn't use washers on the '68 exhaust bolts, then a washer would be instantly noticed as incorrect. but it would be necessary to put on the stud to space the PS bracket out to the right spot. It is only an 1/8th inch probably, so the bracket no doubt has enough flex, but then it would be in a bind and could fracture years from now.

ok which also says that the old rusty one is correct and I will be sure I re-use it instead of the new incorrect one.

thanks
