Default '72 TCS Solenoid Question

I have '72 with a TCS solenoid mounted on the engine. I have seen factory-correct photos that show a small piece of gray foam located on the rear of the solenoid. Any idea where I can get that piece of foam? Thanks.

I don't believe that these are reproduced anywhere. I think most folks cut up a small piece of packing foam or the like. That's what I did anyway....Hopefully someone will chime in a good donor source for that foam.

I have successfully made two of them and they even passed NCRS judging. I took dense packing foam and cut it into the correct shape using a new shop razor blade. I cut it into a rectangle that was roughly twice the width of the vent tube and it was about 1/2" long. Once I had a nice, neatly cut piece of foam I took a black magic marker and daubed it on the foam and then started "massaging" the foam until the black ink had spread throughout the foam. Then to mount the foam, I took a pencil point soldering iron and made a hole in the foam, once the tip was hot. I then put a dab of glue inside the foam hole and inserted the foam. It is still there, two years later. Takes less than five minutes to make. Since then, I have found some dark gray foam that is my new source, if and when I need to redo it.

Gary: Thanks for the info. I'm off to find some dense gray packing foam.
