3963512 is good. The CE indicates this is a replacement block, possibly bought over the counter at GM, or replaced under warranty by a Chevrolet dealer.

Your link doesn't work for me.

The 512 block was used in all sorts of BB engines, not just an L88. The CE number can not be decoded into any particular engine type or configuration.

Sorry.

I believe all warranty replacement engines regardless of size as dealer installed were stamped as "CE" after a certain date, possibly in 1968. However as a over the counter short block or long block they too had "CE" sometime in 1968 including the 512`s.

Not sure, hell I don't know. if pickups enjoyed the same designations

PS, don't bet your girl friend or whatever on my reply.
