Default CE replacement engines

Several questions for the experts... During the early '70s, were CE stamped engines available for all replacement needs? I've seen several LS-6 CE engines but no LS-5 or LT-1s. Is there any decoding information for the CE stamped blocks? Thanks, Jim.

"CE" engines (only available as short-blocks) were made up to replace all production configurations; the only thing a "CE" pad stamp will tell you is which engine plant made it and when it was assembled - there's no configuration information in a "CE" pad stamp.
