Default how does say a 4M** datd alternator say a Dec. build, M would be a 13th month

Looking at old post people are saying they have for sale a 4M10 dated alternator would means 64, dec. 10th....how do you get Dec. from the latter M.?

a=jan, b=feb. etc... M would be a 13th month...shouldn't it be L?

the one on mine noww reads 3M26

just curious

Raised cast-in date codes (block, head, intake, water pump, etc.) used the normal alphabet (A-L); on any electrical component with STAMPED date codes, they skipped the letter "I", so September is "J", October is "K", November is "L", and December is "M".
