I posted this over in the C3 section, but no luck there...
I have a 1969 Assembly Manual and am trying to reassemble some parts that were off the car when I bought it. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that I have all the connectors. Is there any way to cross reference the part numbers in the assembly manual?
I am not trying to complete a factory correct resto, but would like to make sure that I get the right connectors to put things back together.
My 1980 Chevrolet Corvette Parts Catalogue (GM publication) lists various fastener sizes (bolts, screws, etc) for a lot of things. This is the catalogue service departments used when ordered parts. Check Ebay and see if you can scare up one. New reprints are pricey.
The Corvette (and Chevrolet) parts catalogs were paper until sometime around 1983. Now they're on CD. The catalog carries listings of only those parts that are available when it was issued. When the part is no longer available, it is dropped from the catalog. So, in order to get the most listings, get the catalog that was issued right after your car was built. For 1961s, get a 1962. For a 1973, get a 1974 catalog, and etc. The 1974 catalog will still have lots of listings for 1961 cars. But the 1962 one will have more. Most of the catalogs that I've seen on EBay are from the 1970s and 1980s. Sometimes people pay $50-$75 for them. Sometimes, they're much less. I don't think they're worth the money. Most of the time, you can figure it out. For those times that you can't, ask here and at ncrs.org for the correct fastener.
Paragon and Dr. Rebuild try to carry the correct fasteners. Most of the time they get it right. But not all the time.
You are more than welcome to come over and check out the connectors on my 69 to see what you need if it will help. As someone else mentioned, Paragon and Dr. Rebuild usually have packets of nuts and bolts for most applications. They are quite often not NCRS correct, but they are functional 95% of the time.
Dave, "connector" is vague, what exactly are you trying to assemble, and do you mean bolt, nut, insert,clip, what? If you call most used Vette parts places they will get you good used stuff to do what you intend.

I am trying to get the inner and outer front grill and parking light brackets attached and do not have the bolts/screws to connect to the body.
The problem is that this is just the first round of part I am trying to put back on the car and I am liable to have to look up some other parts in the future as well. I was just hoping to do it locally (Lowes/Home Depot). I also have the headlights (I think that most of those parts may be included), one of the rear deck drain tubes, the alarm and a handful of other items to work on.
I will look at getting the Paragon and Dr. Rebuild catalogs and start from there.
If you just need bolts and washers and nuts and little stuff like that, find a little hardware store that has bins where you can buy a piece at a time, not Lowes where you have to buy a packaged box with 50 bolts if you only need 3 or 4. Later.....................B

That's the plan, but without a good idea of what the specs are on the parts I am having a hard time determining exactly which bolts, screws, etc I need to get.
I hope that I have done this right - I have spent a lot of time reading, but never posted a reply.
For my car, a 1971 coupe, I have the assembly manual that many others have mentioned. While it indicates all of the fastners needed with the associated GM p/n's, it is difficult to translate this information into something that you can buy at NAPA, Lowe's, etc.
I was given a GM publication titled "Corvette 1953 Thru 1971 - Parts and Accessories Catalog". It has a blue and white cover, and says P&A30B in the bottom right corner. The book contains the same exploded diagrams that the AIM contains, but the difference is the fastener descriptions. Where the AIM will show a GM p/n, this book gives a concise fastener listing. If I look at an exploded diagram for the front grille of a 1969, the descriptions read "BOLT (5/16-24 x 1/2)" or "SCREW (No. 10-24 x 3/8). It is an excellent book.
Being pretty new to forums, I have little idea as to the restrictions on printed material. That said, I could fax or email a PDF of the diagram. Is this allowed?
What you have is the "old" GM parts catalog, these were great for diagrams as now everything is on the computer and most don't go back that far. If the poster writes you for a diagram, send it to him, no rules forum-wise to govern that. I just read a for-sale post where some guy complained that the guy wasn't following rules by selling something to somebody who didn't post asking for that piece WHAT A BUNCH OF CRY BABIES ON HERE, POINTING OUT EVERY LITTLE THING THAT DOESN'T AGREE WITH THEIR STRICT "FORUM"..............B
That is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I will definitely need to track down that document. Is this the same as any of the "CORVETTE PARTS AND ILLUSTRATION CATALOG"?
If I could get a couple of scans that would be great. If it is possible, let me know and I will gather up the couple of diagrams that I need.

I have little idea how the book I have compares to other Chevrolet accessory catalogs, but compared to the AIM that I have, the fastener information is a lot more useful than the cryptic GM p/n's. It is an interesting book, at least to me. It was given to me in exchange for re-formatting a defiant PC, and I did not complain.
Either post or email me a list of the diagrams that you need, and an email address that I can send attachments to. I am a little hesitant to attempt to post direct here - I have seen a several blank screens and the resultant suggestions that the individual spend some time in the test fourm.... I'll master that later. I will gladly email you what I can find. The scans would be in PDF or TIF, whichever format you like. I could hopefully send them tomorrow (Tuesday), and then I am away for five days. Let me know.
