Default Fiber tape on headlight vacuum lines

I have a 1969 Corvette that has the original headlight / wiper vacuum lines as evidenced by the factory fiber tape on the hoses. My mechanic suspects that I have a vacuum leak in the system somewhere and I fear that the hoses may need to be changed out to correct the problem.
I want to keep the car as close to factory as possible and was wondering if I had any options regarding the fiber tape? Do replacement hose kits come with new fiber tape or is this something that was only done at the factory?
How big of a deal is this to a car when it comes to NCRS judging?

To my knowledge, the replacement kits do not include the fiber tape.

NCRS? Can't say.

It's just "strapping tape". You can by it just about anywhere.

Comes in different widths. Chuck
