Saw a show on cable other day called something like "From junkyard to riches" or something like that where this fabricator called White went out to find a Plymouth Road Runner tp restore. Well he finds one but it is too far gone to restore so he buys a Satalite from the same guy and pieces the two together. While doing so he decides that he could make more money if it was a GTX. So he makes it a GTX and takes it to some auction and sells it for $78,000. The guy who buys it is thrilled. He doesn't know that this ar started out as a plain jane Satalite. Wait till he turns on the TV and sees what he really bought. No one seemed to think there was anything wrong with that.

While I agree with your complaint concerning fake paperwork in the Corvette market many do not ascribe to your political views. If the decisions on how to deal with terrorists were left up to folks like you our wives would be afraid to go to the mall for fear of being blown up. You do realize we are fighting and killing them on their soil and not here. If you feel like taking the opportunity to interject your political beliefs please do it over in the politics and controversy forum from now on.

It only matters to your own personal sense of accomplishment and perhaps the ability to retain or increase in value if that is important and to some it is. High value is the icing on the cake. As much work and effort these things require to do correctly it makes it kinda nice to have something of value afterwards in addition to all the other qualities one derives from Corvette ownership.
With the high dollar value of true originals, imposters will always be available. Recently, even known faxcimilies have been bringing high dollars. I only take issue with cars portrayed as the original. To me, this seems fraudulent.
But I also understand that cars are a commodity and trade hands frequently. The original copycat builder may have had the best of intentions when creating an copy (GTX, HEMI, L-88, SS, etc ad infitum) form a base or similar model, but after time, inevitably some owner in a string of owners believes he has the original (complete with paperwork), and you can't convince them otherwise. So, two sayings come to my mind, one already stated, "Caveat Emptor" and the other "A fool and his money are soon parted." I can't feel sorry for anyone who spends six figures on a car without doing their homework first.
Let's please leave any political discussions out of a restoration forum .
