Default Seat cover installation

I want to have my seats redone with new foam and covers; is this something a novice can accomplish with good results or is it something better left to a professional?

The same goes for carpet installation; how difficult is that to do?

Thanks,

Yes, a determined novice can do both jobs and do them well. Take your time, clean, repair the seat frames as needed and paint. The head rests are difficult to do right. Seems there is a service to install the correct molded vinyl [Ecklers perhaps). More than likely the top chrome seat belt retainer and the release latch bezel will need rechromed. There are small chrome shops that do nice work on these. The carpet is much easier since it is molded to fit and since you are restoring the interior, many, if not most ot the things that need to be removed will be out anyway. Good luck

I did the seats on my 70 with little trouble. I had instructions from Al Knoch from whom I bought my seat covers. There are also several resources on line just look at this website to get an idea what you are getting into:http://www.rowleycorvette.com/corvette_repair2.html

Just take your time and you will have no trouble. When done it is very satisfying to sit in your new seats and know that you installed them yourself.

Thanks for the encouragement; I am planning on buying my covers and foam from Al Knoch with carpet from Romeo Engineering. I want to have that feeling of accomplishment knowing that I did the seats and interior myself. Too many times I have paid others to do this type of work and I couldn't help but feel like everyone else did my car, I just funded the project. I want this car to be different.
