I believe that the original covers for a 79 L-82 are just the rough aluminum look.. b4 i did mine they were sprayed black.. im really not to sure, but if you take you time with them you can polish them to a chrome finish.

Check out this thread.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1306741

78s pretty much the same as 79s. L48 valve covers and intake manifold painted engine blue.

Covers (L-82) are aluminum, painted black with bare ribs. Chrome air cover and black master cylinder cap are not correct.

I put it back together just the way I found It...Never touched before me... not a great shot though it may give you some idea of how it should look

No chrome. Base engine valve covers were painted engine color; optional L-82 valve covers were painted flat black with natural metal ribs (good examples of each in the pix). For underhood bolt and other part finishes, I would trust the NCRS Judging Guide for '79.

Is that an aluminum water pump, or is it cast iron painted silver, and what would be correct for a 79 L-82? My whole engine just got doused in black (except for the intake) when the previous owner had it rebuilt.

Default i need chassis specs!!

I recently purchased a 79 stingray corvette and learned that the previous owner ran it off the road and into a ditch. the big problem is the frame was bent out of shape and i dont know the factory measurments of every section of the frame, if anybody has access to this information, if you could you pass this information on to me it would be appreciated.
