ok guys where is the best place to buy correct bolts for the engine? head bolts etc..
Were getting close to being done with the detail and all on my dads 68 engine bay we had a valve job done etc but where is a good place for correct bolts all throughout a 68 427? the motor has 95% all correct bolts but 1 of the head bolts isn't correct and like a couple others throughout it and I would rather have new ones anyway if they're the correct ones.
any websites you know of ? on tv it said eastwood offered kits no luck on their site and others like madvet aren't that into bolt kits by the looks of it.
and btw yes we want it to be up to nrsc standards thats why I don't want to just put ace hardware bolts or something on it.
Doesn't Year One or National Parts Depo offer these kits? They don't offer Corvette parts, but I would think that head bolts for a similarly-equipped Chevelle would be quite similar, right?

Location: Those who say it can't be done should get out of the way of the ones who are doing it.
Paragon Reproductions has one of the most complete selection of original headmarking bolts for Corvettes that I've ever seen.
If you want the OEM look but are not concerned with head markings Totally Stainless has a large selection of the "relieved head" bolts that are similar to many of the body bolts the OEM's used and they are all in stainless steel. They have natural stainless and a stainless with a coating that looks like black oxide finish.
I believe their website is totallystainless.net

Be VERY careful where you choose to use "stainless" bolts; virtually ALL stainless and chrome "dress-up" bolts (except those from ARP, SPS, or other aircraft-quality specialty fastener manufacturers) are SAE Grade 2, which is about what you'd use to hang a farm gate - you'll find that disclaimer in tiny print on the inside front or rear cover of the "dress-up" bolt outfit catalogs. Scares me to death when I see "dress-up" bolts used in steering/suspension/brake applications on cars at shows.

Yep, just realized he was looking for correct bolts for his engine and not necessarily underhood dress-up. Paragon does have the correct head marking high strength head bolts. Actually, Totally Stainless will ask you first off what you are planning to use the stainless bolts for. They want to make sure they are used for low strength applications only.
Year one is just starting out its vette program. Their catalog is way ahead of their stock of parts. Prices are good but I was very disappointed in their service. I ordered parts, called a week later and was told they would be sent out in 2 days, called again in a week, and was told they were being mailed today, called again a week later and was told they would not have them for 30 days. I ordered them from Dr. Rebuild and had them the next day. Also took them 21 days to credit back my charge card.
Year One- great cataolg, lousy service. Just don't BS me, if you can't deliver just say so and I will find the parts elsewhere. I hate being jerked around. They will not see me as a customer for a long time.
Dr Rebuild, Paragon are the best out there stay with them you get what you pay for.
